The Wave Spring Follow Up program in Tuzla 2010 is coming to its the last 3 weeks. We'll have very intensive program that starts with trip to Bosnian-Serbian border on Saturday. We are sure that it'll be very emotional time for all Wave participants who will go to that trip and we are very careful in planning program for that day. On our way to Zvornik we will pass several places that will bring back some hard memories from the recent war. On that trip we'll also have guests from Sarajevo and Srebrenica (the place of the big massacre in 1995) from Bosnia and we hope to have guests from Serbia too. Unfortunately the last several days in Bosnia rain has not not stopping and we hope that weather will serve us better during the coming weekend.
On Saturday 12th June we will have a guest teacher. Prof. Meic Pearse who teaches in Houghton College, N.Y. will give a lesson to Wave participants who are studying in University in Tuzla. The lesson will be: "Studying in the East and Studying in the West". During the session we will have a Skype conference with students from Canada, USA, UK, Poland, Romania and Macedonia. Meic Pearse will come in November again to give a lesson in a local church, when we'll also try to organize, as part of Wave program, his presentation of the book "Why the Rest Hates the West?" which he also presented in front of the president of the USA. He will also be one of the speakers at ROM Gathering 2010 in Fuzine, Croatia.
In the next 3 weeks we'll also have several lessons for smaller groups, special programs for each group and an Open Program for all levels together. We are also planning big BBQ for the end of the semester in Tuzla. During this time we will have meeting with Wave participants and volunteers who will attend ROM Gathering this year. Besides all those things we will have several smaller workshops.
Then on 20th June Wave will have the first project in Croatia. It'll be in cooperation with one of the churches in Zagreb. We will help project there by sending several volunteers and core team members. It's good to see that Wave is making steps to one more country.
Situation in Bosnia is very difficult due to ran that has been lasting for several days. Many towns are flooded, and many villagers close to Tuzla have stayed without homes. I'm thinking about ideas how Wave can help to people from those areas. Today and on Friday I'll meet with our team from Tuzla and we'll also discuss this challenge.
Tea Deak, Wave Director, Tuzla, Bosnia-Herzegovina
